There can be plenty of distractions in the bedroom, causing you to lie wide awake and turn minutes of tossing and turning into hours. This makes it important to eliminate disturbances and make the bedroom conducive to falling asleep.

- Distractions – Television and electronic devices emit blue light that can only make it hard for you to fall asleep. Calm your mind and body by eliminating these distractions. Avoid watching TV with the hope of drifting off later or checking your email a few minutes before bedtime. You can listen to music to help you sleep, but be sure to choose soothing tunes and avoid heavy metal.
- Noise – Falling asleep can be a challenge if you have thin walls or if there are family member watching TV in the next room. You can deal with this by using earplugs, white noise machine, or installing a floor insulation. You can also get rid of sound disturbances using acoustic tiles, which can be installed temporarily or permanently.
