In my recent blog What Mail Did You Open This Week?, I asked you to send in mail pieces that caught your eye recently.
Here's another...cool graphics! What do you think? Keep them coming! Email to info@bestowcommunity.org or mail to Jen Lennon at 10435 New York Ave, Des Moines, IA 50322.
From crystaln:
“I received this absentee voting ballot request form from the Iowa Democratic Party in the mail the other day. The simple retro graphics on the front immediately grabbed my attention. I honestly didn’t even read who it was from I just tore it open and then started to read more about this piece and what it was asking of me. At the age of 25, I’m a relatively young voter. Although extremely important, voting seems so “boring” and “drab” and a terrible inconvenience to someone of my age. This tri-fold was not only visually appealing but it was telling me how easy it was to vote via an absentee voting ballot—I don’t even have to go anywhere! They even used variable data to fill in half of my return-by-mail request form. How easy is that? They even included an extra one for me to give a friend, which I will because my experience with this was so easy. They just reached out to not only 1 but 2 people who may not of been able to make it to the polls!”
From jsull:
There was nothing at all interesting, pretty or creative about this mail piece...which is exactly why I opened it. I had no idea what it was. There was absolutely no clue on the outside as to its contents. Was it a bill I forgot to pay? A speeding ticket? Maybe something more fun like concert tickets? In its simplicity it piqued my curiosity. I couldn't throw it away without knowing what it was, therefore, I opened it. I think this shows that sometimes simpler can be more effective.
From zachc:
This was a annual appeal, tri-fold card with envelope that my wife received in the mail this past weekend and it really caught my eye. I think The Animal Lifeline of Iowa does a great job of using variable data while at the same time drawing in the reader with eye catching photos. This particular piece uses my wife Azure’s name in four spots, can you find them all?
