Greet the Snow Season Royal Family-Style: Go on a Ski Holiday

Ski HolidayThe Cambridges share a mutual love for the snow in the Alps. Both the press and holiday-goers often spotted Will and Kate in Klosters, a Swiss resort William used to frequent with his father. It was in the same resort that rumours about the royal couple’s then-budding love affair sparked, after they were photographed together on the slopes.

Even after the arrival of Prince George and Princess Charlotte, the young royal couple seems to have maintained their common love for skiing. Last year, they made headlines as they took the tiny royals to a skiing trip.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s First Ski Holiday

While Prince George may have already seen snow flurries as they fell outside his Norfolk home, he appears to have enjoyed the metre-thick snow on the slopes. In the photos taken by a veteran royal photographer, the family looked like they were having the time of their lives.

According to a Kensington Palace spokesman, ‘This was their first holiday as a family of four and the first time either of the children had played in the snow.’

Planning Your First Holiday Trip

As a beginner, consider booking your ski holiday in a Les Arcs resort with novice slopes. Searching for a family-friendly or mixed-ability resort is also practical if you’re going with company.

If you don’t plan on staying on the hill the entire day, think of other activities that you would like to experience, aside from snowboarding and skiing. You may want to visit a spa, try snowshoeing, go on a sleigh ride or go sledding with huskies.

Furthermore, you may choose to book every aspect independently. As a beginner, however, it will be easier to book a package with a tour operator. For accommodations, B&B or half-board accommodations and are ideal for couples, while catered chalets work better for families.

This year, the Alps have benefited from the abundant snowfall, causing some resorts to open ahead of schedule. Plan ahead and start scouting for the perfect ski resorts. If the royal family enjoyed their skiing holiday, there is no reason you won’t as well.
